Redesigns

Why is a site redesign important? If you’re getting traffic to your site, you might be able to float that boat for a while, but the reason a site redesign is important after every 5 years roughly goes deeper than the surface of the site. A redesign will not only update the look of your online presence for current industry trends, but it will standardize your code.

Basic internet technologies are starting to rapidly develop. Until now, many had stayed fairly static in terms of developing technologies. (HTML, CSS and Javascript) As standards are created, older methods are getting deprecated, meaning as the internet grows up, browsers will get to a point where your site will look broken because they won’t be using your old code.

Design Concept

For you designers out there, it’s important to understand that your job is a collaborative work. It’s important to be there for your customer and guide them in a world they often don’t understand, but also to let go at times. You understand design, but your clients understand their business more than you do, so it’s important to design for their customers and sometimes that’s not how you have things envisioned.

The example just above shows the Design Concept and how the end result ended up looking nothing like the original mockup. It happens.

As long as you’re keeping up with current coding standards, the overall design will be bolstered by your knowledge. It’s a thankless endeavor, but crucial all the same.
